PhD student in CIFRE since October 2020 between the Laboratory of Biometry and Evolutionary Biology (University Lyon 1), the Laboratory of Functional Biology, Insects and Interactions (INSA Lyon), and the company IZINOVATION.

Interested in the diversity of symbiotic systems, I completed my bachelor's degree in Health Biology and my master's degree in Fundamental Microbiology at the University of Paris-Saclay. I had the opportunity to study certain systems of symbiosis by different approaches through my experiments in a research laboratory at the National Research Council of Canada and at the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology in Bremen.
My thesis project is to study the interaction between the bedbug Cimex lectularius and its obligatory nutritional symbiont, Wolbachia. The bed bug is a growing health and economic problem in France, the area of Lyon is well affected. The interaction this pest has with its symbiote is obligatory for its survival. This project aims to extend the understanding of this interaction with a general study of the symbiosis system during the life cycle of the bug and then by the study of the genes involved in the association. The goal is to eventually identify new specific targets to fight against bedbugs while minimizing damage to the environment.

The thesis is part of the 'Micro-be-have' project. To carry it out, I am supervised by Natacha Kremer (LBBE), Fabrice Vavre (LBBE), Anna Zaidman-Remy (BF2I) and Romain Lasseur (IZINOVATION).
