Scientific Breakthrough Program Micro-be-have

Micro-be-have intends to understand how microbes interfere with niche and partner choice in insects to develop new control methods for pests and disease vectors.

The Micro-be-have project aims at understanding if and how microbes (be they beneficial or harmful) alter their host behavior and the consequences of these alterations on their ecology and evolution. The development of the platform Symbiotron will provide infrstructure and equipment to develop these studies on system of medical and agronomic interest.

The project gathers five laboratories specialized on insect-microbes interactions: Biométry and Evolutionary Biology (LBBE), Functional Biology, Insects and Interactions (BF2I), le Microbial Ecology de Lyon (LEM), Viral Infections and campared pathology (IVPC), the institute of Functional genomicsof Lyon (IGFL), and a company specialized in the control of invasive species (Izinovation).
